We've got some super exciting news about our literacy in Waunceirch. Following on from the super effort and results in Read Write Ink, we have just taken on the RWInk Literacy and Language scheme.  It will help us to keep improving our reading, writing, spelling and handwriting skills.

This term, as we're learning and 'Pits and Ponies', we've started a literacy unit that will help us write a historical story based on orphan children in workhouses in the Victorian era, around the same time as children would be working down the mines.

We've been practising our drama skills by using Forum Theatre and dramatic reconstructions to help us engage with the characters of the story, Runaways!

We are currently learning about writing reports, more specifically, newspaper reports.  Today we have been working on some carousel activities to help us understand the different types of news, who reads them and how the language used can change our opinions on events, these are called biased or balanced arguments.

Year 5 have been learning about how to write rhyming poems.  We wrote these based on our theme 'Scream Machine' and have helped each other edit and improve them.
